How The Holy Spirit Equips Us With Spiritual Gifts

Good day friends! We hope this finds you well. Today Dr. Abernethy continues his series through our study of the Holy Spirit. Today we are in 1 Corinthians 1-11 and will be looking at the equipping of the spiritual gifts by the Holy Spirit. 

Every believer has been given spiritual gits from the Holy Spirit and for the building up of the body of Christ. You my friend have a gift and we as the body of Christ need you to exercise your gifts for our benefit. Whatever your gift is it add value to us as your brothers and sisters in Christ. We implore you to pray to the Lord to reveal what your gift is so that you can begin to use it.

The Relationship Between A Church And The Missionaries They Send

Happy Lord's Day to you friend! Today we come to the end of our study through the book of Ephesians. The church needs to be engaged in the ministry of those that we send. As Paul brings the book of Ephesians to a close we will get a glimpse of his relationship with the church at Ephesus.

 

We hope that your church is actively sending people into the world to affect it for the kingdom of God. We also hope that those whom you have sent feel like they are being supported well. Missionaries are human all the same that we are. They need us to partner with them as they minister. Have you prayed for your missionaries lately? When was the last time they heard from you?

Living In Light Of Our Homecoming

Happy Lord's Day to you friend! We hope that this finds you well. Today is homecoming at Corinth Baptist. A day where we celebrate the life of our church over the past year. A day when former members come back to us to remember everything the Lord has done.

As good as it is to reunite with our brother's and sister's in Christ here on this earth, we know that there will be a heavenly homecoming. For those who believe on the Lord Jesus, this world is not our home. We have a heavenly home that we belong to and that we can expect to be treated like aliens and strangers here in this life. When this world rejects us and attacks us, let them find us doing the perfect will of our father in heaven. So that we can give a testimony to the great salvation that is in Christ Jesus.

Christ is Lord of all areas of life. This includes how we behave in the work place. As servants of the Lord we must perform our work in such a way that honors Him.

Walking Worthy Of Salvation As A Family

Good day friends! This morning we are in Ephesians 6:1-4. Here we continue the household code in the book of Ephesians. This time we are specifically discussing our responsibilities as children and parents.

As designed by God, the nuclear family is the bedrock of civilization and the foundation for all individuals on Earth. God's plan for us as seen in the Bible clearly involves the pedagogical upbringing of children by their parents. As a unit the husband and wife are to raise their own children in such a way as to impart to them the knowledge of the Lord. Friends we can not outsource this responsibility. You have a unique ability to influence your kids for the Lord

Let us emphasize friends that you are teaching your children about God weather you intend to or not. The way they see you praying is how they will come to practice prayer. The time they see you spend reading the bible is how they will learn to spend in God's word. The attitudes that you carry toward God and others is the attitude that they will adopt. Either you are leading your children to walk with the Lord, or you are leading them to walk without the Lord.

The church can not undo with 2-4 hours a week what we are doing in the hearts of our children for 40 hours a week. We must take seriously the responsibility that we have been given by God. To bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.
